OVERVIEW

Fast Food Old Fashioned Burger Company

I ’ll start by saying, if you are reading this and you live on the west side of the US, I envy you. Fast food is a staple in American culture and the occasional good ole greasy burger and fries is a guilty pleasure that everyone must indulge in every now and then. In-N-Out Burger lives up to that formula exceptionally well.

The In-N-Out locations that I have visited are themed with a no-frills, classic drive in diner feel with a menu so simple that a turtle could probably order from. Even better, the prices are still stuck in the era that the restaurants are designed from.

I definitely had my doubts about In-N-Out. Fast food burgers have never been something I have enjoyed. My idea of a fast food burger is something similar to the offerings of the Golden Arches. I could not tell you the last time that I have eaten there. I don’t even like other chains like Five Guys, so to say I had low expectations would be an understatement.

I was advised by a friend of mine before the first visit to get my burgers and fries “animal style.” This adds In-N-Out’s secret sauce, melted cheese, and grilled onions. I heeded their advice and got both that way. The burger was fantastic. This was probably the best fast food burger that I’ve ever tasted. However, in my opinion, the fries were very mediocre. I do commend them for slicing fresh potatoes in house every day and serving them right out of the hot grease.

The second time that I visited In-N-Out I decided that I would get both the fries and the burger as normal. This is my In-N-Out order preference.  I also had the pleasure on my second visit of trying a vanilla milkshake (I know this meal is really healthy). The milkshake was thick, but nothing extremely special. I’ll stick to my Chik-fil-A milkshakes, not that I have a choice living in Florida.

CONCLUSION

There’s not much to take away from this establishment. When it comes to a fast food burger, you’ll be hard pressed to find something better at a similar price point.

The cult following speaks for itself. Other than the sub-par (in my opinion) fries, and the fact that it isn’t in my region, I have nothing but good things to say. A trip out West would not be complete without a stop at In-N-Out!
